Ashtanga Yoga Beginners Class 4
This class adds to your knowledge of the Standing Postures in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, and continues on from the standing postures covered in Class 3.
As typical for an Ashtanga Yoga Classes, it starts with sun salutations A & B, which are led at regular pace (building on the instruction from Classes 1 & 2).
If you are new to the Sun Salutations, we recommend getting Classes 1 to 3 to prepare you for Class 4. The pace has intentionally been slowed down in the new Standing Poses to support you to explore each posture with correct alignment.
This set of seven classes takes you through the fundamental postures and breath-work in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. It is not the same as what is known as the ‘Primary Series’ in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga – it is an introduction to some of the postures found in that Series.
That said, these set of classes are dynamic and require you to be physically fit. Previous yoga experience is ideal, but not essential. If you are a regular practitioner in yoga and you want to be introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, this is the set of classes for you.
We recommend that you practise and familiarise yourself with each class as many times as you like, before moving on to the next class. All you need is a clean space and a yoga mat!
This is a beginners level class and is 41 minutes in length.
