Kundalini Yoga Beginners Class 1
Beautiful teacher Siri Gopal Kaur has compiled this series of 7 classes suitable for all levels of ability – from beginners to advanced practitioners.
CLASS 1 is called “Basic Spinal Energy Series” – an easy practice designed to increase the flexibility of your spine. Youth can be defined by the range of movement of your spine – age is no excuse! Keep moving and maintain your youthful flexibility. All 26 vertebrae are stimulated in this set, resulting in increased mental clarity and memory function. It balances all 8 chakras and gives you an energy boost.
If new to Kundalini Yoga start with the minimum suggested repetition time for each posture, slowly increasing the times (to go no longer than the maximum given) as you become more familiar with the practice.
Each class begins with warm ups, preparing for the kriya (the main section of the class) to be practiced. Kriyas in Kundalini Yoga are set sequences of movements, designed to work on specific aspects of your being. For example, there are many different kriyas, each with a different focus – from spine flexibility, strength, weight loss, cleansing liver, mental clarity, clearing the chakras, etc.
Kundalini Yoga incorporates pranayama (breathwork), mantra (chanting), dynamic movement, mudra and meditative focus to balance your energetic body and fine tune your physical body. Kundalini Yoga is said to be “the mother of all yoga”, the yoga of awareness.
This is a beginners level class and is 61 minutes in length.
