Yin and Yang Yoga Open Level Complete Set (Classes 1 to 3)
The practise of yoga for many is about establishing a sense of balance in our life. The complementary Yin and Yang styles yoga offers a balanced approach to yoga asana practise.
Yin and Yang practice challenge our joints – they enhance our awareness and stimulate our connective tissue, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Balancing this work on the seen-felt-physical body, we explore the unseen energetic body with particular reference to the energy meridian system as is discussed in Chinese medicine.
Yin is a more restorative, feminine, passive, peaceful practice. This is balanced by a more dynamic, masculine, and challenging Yang Yoga practice.
Yin Yoga Practice (Regular & Extended Length): In this first set of two classes (you get two versions of the same class – regular length and extended length) with Simon Low, you will enjoy a deeply-relaxing, short restorative practice introducing you to the postures of Yin yoga. It focuses on deep mayo-fascia release all throughout the joints of the physical body, particularly around the hips. It also gives you an awareness of the energy-meridian system around your body as it pertains to Chinese medicine and yoga.
These two Yin Yoga classes (Regular and Extended Length Editions) are designed to allow you to practise the version that best suits your available time. For these classes you will need a yoga mat, three blankets, a bolster (or long cushion), and two blocks.
Yang Yoga Practice is an excellent introduction to this ancient practice. It has three parts:
1. Brief Orientation followed by a Qi-Gong influenced spiral motion or “Spinning” which can be practised at any time of day.
2. A tutorial instruction sequence that takes you through step-by-step each of the poses.
3. Three rounds of the Yang Sequence in full swing.
Yang style offers a dynamic fluid sequence of movements where the circular spiral movement patterns we see in nature are balanced with the linear-based approach so commonly practised in yoga today. There is an emphasis on following your body’s natural instinctive movements.
This is set of 3 open level classes and total length is 213 minutes.
